What is gene?
A. A gene is a blueprint of a human.Your genes are the footprint of who you are. Humans are known to have approximately 26,000 genes. Each gene is made up of a special protein material called DNA, which translates genetic information necessary to sustain function and life. DNA is comprised of 4 amino acids/base letters; Adenine (A), Thymine (T), Guanine (G) and Cytosine( C) in sequential order. We inherit the DNA codes, or sequence, from both our parents, thus, this is why we resemble them.These four bases are like letters. For example, when combining the four letters "L" "O" "V" "E", the four bases become genes with various genetic information depending on the way of arranging so that it becomes the word "LOVE". However, when "O" of "LOVE" changes to "I", there may be a difference in base sequence so that it becomes "LIVE". This difference is called "polymorphism", which leads to individual differences in constitution. It is genetic testing to investigate this slight difference and to statistically analyze the constitution and the possibility of disease by comparing it with research data accumulated so far in the world.
What is the difference between a Gene and DNA？
A. Genes are the footprint, and DNA is paper and ink.Genes, the Footprint of Life is the paper that ink is written on. DNA, therefore, is the ink, or the unique handwriting of each person.
Will my genetic test results change over time?
Your DNA will not change during your lifetime.Because gene information does not change for the lifetime, results do not change depending on the age at the time of collection, physical condition, pregnancy and so on. You can take the test at any time.
